The 1957 Mercedes- Benz 300 SL is without a doubt a classic. It was designed by the Mercedes- Benz for reintroducing themselves on the racing circuit after the World War II. The designers had a vision of getting the 300 engine in a smaller car and this is how the Roadster originated.

The car was introduced in the year 1957. The car was built-in with both aluminium and steel. It boasted a large steel structure. It was specifically designed to weigh less so that the torque and thrust of the engine could be used to make the car move faster.

Although being majorly built with steel, parts of the car like the doors, trunk lid and the hood were in aluminium to give the car a light body. It came with 240 bhp and a maximum speed of over 140 miles per hour. The powerful drum brakes meant it can also be stopped instantaneously.
