The production of the Lamborghini Miura was carried out between 1966 and 1973 in Italy. The sport car had a mid-engine layout and enjoys a history of great success in competitions. This layout later became a trendsetter among the two-seater supercars in its time. The chassis of the Miura was first unveiled at the Turin Motor Show in 1965 and it was an instant hit as multiple orders were placed for it although it did not have an actual body on display.

The styling of the sports car was inspired by the Ford GT40 and Marcello Gandini was the one who actually designed the body of this car as he did for most other Lamborghini cars. The 1966 Geneva Motor Show had both the chassis and the body on display for the auto lovers from across the globe. The unusual engine and the flashy bodywork made it look stunning. The car had opening hoods on both ends and there was also a trunk located behind the engine. Lamborghini-Miura01

The Jota was one of the many models of this fabulous car. It was a one off car which was developed by Bob Wallace in 1972. It was originally built as a powerful test car for the Miura of the future. However, some financial constraints made the company sell this car in the late seventies.

The car was totalled in 1980 and it made Lamborghini built a replica of it. The Miura became very notorious initially for being prone to fire hazard which was later resolved by some modifications. The Lamborghini Miura comes fourth in the list of Top Sports Car of All Times.
