The Lamborghini Countach LP500 S was first introduced in 1982 Geneva Auto Show. After the Geneva show, the LP500 S was shipped to US where it was modified to meet the California norms of DOT and EPA. In fact, it was the first LP500 S to get US modifications.
The Countach LP500 S remained in California for six months and was later tested to its standards in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The car was than sent to the factory in Italy. There is meant to serve as a US prototype. The US-Specifications Countach, which was then introduced, in fact, was the actual car based on the modifications except for the rear treatment, which was changed.
